I’m quiet and shy. People make me nervous. I don’t talk much in groups. I never start conversations – you have to come to me.
Speaking in front of people used to terrify me. I had a real fear of public speaking. That was the old me. Things change.
I never imagined I’d become a public speaker. But I did. The best part? I beat my fear and now I even get paid for public speaking.
From Fear to Empowerment
How It Started. It all began with a desire. I wanted to share the potential of home-based opportunities with others, knowing it could benefit many.
Unsure where to start, I searched for training and discovered Inspire Leadership Consultancy’s “Knockout Presentation Skills” workshop by Anthony Pangilinan. I’m eager to attend, so I asked about the cost. Surprise! It was Php10,000.00! Way beyond my budget. But my desire was strong.
I asked the organizer if I could attend the next session and pay in installments beforehand, as I couldn’t afford the full fee upfront. They agreed. Sadly, when the next session came around, I still couldn’t attend. I’d only managed to save Php2,000.00
Sad, right? Did I give up? Yes, for a while. But when you truly want something from the bottom of your heart, you’ll get it at the right time.
A year later, another workshop was scheduled, and I contacted the organizer again to see if I could resume my installment payments. Guess what? The organizer said she’d made an error with the payment options and offered me a one-time payment of Php3,000.00 instead – a 50% discount!
Gotcha! Persistence pays off! I finally attended the workshop in December 2014.
DOUBTS AND FEARS
Things didn’t work out as I’d hoped. Desire turned into doubt and fear.
Would anyone even listen to me?
Would people pay to hear what I had to say?
The worst was when my husband said, “Don’t do it. You might just be ignored.” ( “baka langawin ka lang”)
Oh, don’t misunderstand him. He said it out of love. He didn’t want me to be embarrassed or humiliated because he knows me so well.
RIGHT MINDSET IS POWERFUL
I was about to give up on my dream, but then I met someone who changed everything. He helped me see what I could do and pushed me to stop thinking and start doing it. Let me introduce you to Raymond Lim, CEO of RBG Philippines.

And it feels so great when there are people who may not personally know you but will really support your journey. Yes, the CEO of Manila Workshops, Ginger Arboleda , responded immediately.
THE FIRST SEMINAR
After three years of dreaming, I finally held my first seminar! We had 20 people in the audience at Maxx’s Robinson in Imus. It’s funny now, but I remember telling everyone, “Please bear with me, this is my first time speaking.” I was so nervous; I must have used the bathroom 3 to 5 times before we even started!
But I did it! It was a success, and I was thrilled. I partnered with Manila Workshops again, and we planned another seminar, this time in Metro Manila.
DISCOURAGEMENT COMES IN
was almost ready to quit, but I kept looking for ways to get better. I was so desperate, I even emailed Chinkee Tan.
I’ve learned a lot from him. I am mentored by his seminars, books and blog posts.
You know what, he really answered me 🙂
Around the same time, Ginger Arboleda also talked to me. She offered her support and guidance. These experiences taught me that you can’t please everyone.
It’s important to turn negative feedback into something positive and use it to improve yourself. You know, encouraging others can make a real difference.
If these people hadn’t believed in me, I wouldn’t be writing this blog post today.
THE JOURNEY CONTINUES
The decision to continue with my journey is the best decision I’ve made and helped me grow as a person. I’ve conducted more than than 10 workshops now and I have been doing it for 2 years now.

PROFIT FROM PUBLIC SPEAKING
The best part I get to profit from public speaking as an additional income stream. It is just so exciting, that I was able to earn the most at a 5-digit income.
Sounds great, right? I never thought that I could earn as much as that by simply speaking for 3 hours and by simply sharing information with people. On top of that, I was able to generate leads and convert them as a customer of my home-based online marketing agency.
LEARNING NEVER STOPS
Two years may have passed but there’s still a lot to work on myself because learning never stops. To hone my public speaking skills, I recently joined Maxwell Speakers Club International – Philippines.

Yes, it hurts a lot. I’ve been working on this project for the last 7 months, unfortunately, things did not work out the way I wanted to happen. Getting rejected is very discouraging and disappointing especially if you already invest a big amount of money and will just end of nothing.
What’s more disappointing is just because you were not able to get at least 3 affiliate sales you will be rejected. But there’s nothing that I can do because that’s how the affiliate program works.
Sad, right? But that’s okay, it’s a normal thing, we all go through this season of life. I have been rejected so many times, I have been rejected with my job applications, even rejected in doing link building tasks and so many to mention :).
As I look back on my rejections, here are the things I did when dealing with rejection.
